Former Philippine President Corazon "Cory" Cojuangco Aquino (January 25, 1933 - August 01, 2009), a religious woman, a mother of virtue and a leader of democracy has passed away.
"Our mother peacefully passed away at 3:18 a.m. August 1, 2009 of cardio respiratory arrest. She would have wanted us to thank each and every one of you for all the prayers and your continued love and support. It was her wish for all of us to pray for one another and our country." Senator Benigno Aquino III confirmed.
She was truly born democratic icon, a proud Filipino citizen who withstand the "power of the people," freed democracy from a dictators regime for about 20 years term (The Marcoses), resisted seven attempts of coup de tat and liberated the rights of the people from deprivation.
As the first female president of the Republic of the Philippines, she was indeed a woman who stood out to be "the people's living constitution" and in which she gave inspiration to her fellow countrymen and other nations as well.
Lately last year, President Corazon Aquino was diagnosed with cancer of the colon and from then, she was confined with series of medication and of chemo therapy.
As a support of the Filipinos to the former president, prayer vigils, holy masses and yellow ribbons were then offered and presented as a sign of leading the country as one great family, as one great democracy and as one great nation, the Philippines.
