During the Unpacked 2013 Episode 2 event in Berlin, the company unveiled the Samsung Galaxy Gear, though it's not the first wearable device available in the market today, it will surely change the game of the smartwatch war.
Samsung Galaxy Gear is a smartwatch engineered with a stylish design and connectivity features specifically for the newly announced Samsung Galaxy Note 3. The Galaxy Gear is basically a watch that enables users to connect and interact with their Samsung Galaxy gadgets through the Bluetooth technology, in other words, a companion device. It comes with 10 preloaded clock faces which users can personalize and play on, like any other smartwatches such as the Pebble, Sony SmartWatch 2, and Qualcomm's Toq, you can preview incoming messages, calls, and emails through the Galaxy Gear. If the incoming alerts requires not just a quick look, the Smart Relay function will instantly reveal the content on your Samsung Galaxy devices. You can as well control music played on your Samsung Galaxy device, play, pause and browse song playlists right from your wrist.

The Samsung Galaxy Gear is tailored with a handful of interesting features such as the Find My Device that helps users find their smartphone or devices' location in case they've been misplaced, and the Auto Lock feature for securing your smart devices automatically and any time the Galaxy Gear is out of the 1.5-meter range.
In addition to Galaxy Gear's useful functions, it can be used as a Pedometer to track walking sessions and provides data for your physical workouts. It also has the S Voice where in users can draft messages, create calendar and alarm entries, even check the weather; Gyroscope, Accelerometer sensor, ChatON, Voice Memo and Memographer to easily remember and capture daily activities. Also, the Galaxy Gear comes with featured apps such as Evernote, Glympse, Line, MyFitnessPal, Path, Pocket, and RunKeeper to name a few.
Aside from the elegant design, the smartwatch features a 1.63-inch (14.4mm) Super AMOLED (320 x 320) touchscreen display, 800 MHz processor, 1.9 megapixel Auto Focus camera, 2 microphones for noice cancellation, built-in speaker, 4GB Internal memory plus 512 MB RAM, and a standard Li-ion 315mAh battery. The Galaxy Gear measures 36.8 x 56.6 x 11.1mm, weighs only 73.8g, and made mostly from hard plastic but has a metallic face.
Samsung Galaxy Gear together with the Galaxy Note 3 will be launched in more than 140 countries worldwide starting from September 25. The Galaxy Gear is slated at $299 price tag and available in six variety of colours: Jet Black, Mocha Gray, Wild Orange, Oatmeal Beige, Rose Gold, and Lime Green.
